ROBERT BURNS 1759-1796
Robert Burns is Scotland's most famous poet. Born in January 25th 1759, his birthday is celebrated throughout Scotland with dinners at which his poetry is read. Among his most famous poems are "Tam O'Shanter", "Address to a Haggis", "To A Mouse" and "Scots, Wha Hae" His poetry is often written in Scots, and a rather archaic Scots at that, some of which is difficult even for native Scots to follow.
