About 25 miles southeast of Glasgow sits the town of Dalry, in Ayrshire. Like many towns it has its share of famous people and interesting stories and places of interest. The train runs from Glasgow Central Station to Dalry. Like many small stations, this one is largely 2 platforms with some small shelters in case of inclement weather. On the Dalry platforms (and around them) are a number of interesting objects.
The station at Dalry
The station is kept well ordered and neat.
First there is a pleasant planter, placed there by the Dalry Burns Club which was found in 1825.
On the opposite platform there are more flowers, only this time the flower box is in the form of a locomotive with two cars
Dalry has an interesting train station that has a remarkable bit of art on it – 3 hares. These hares are made of glass-fiber by Wayne Darnell and were funded by the Dalry Parish Boundary Trust and North Ayrshire Council.
The Installation of the Three Hares
The hares are all looking up
We are not sure what they are looking at!
Maybe they are just enjoying the sun!
But they seem to be looking at something
Even though the service is pretty good….
Perhaps they are just bored waiting for a train!
Here is the finished installation.
