Alan LaVern Bean (March 15, 1932 – May 26, 2018)

Alan Bean was one of my favorite astronauts because not only did he walk on the Moon, he eventually became an artist and painted his experiences of being on the Moon.

I'll list a few bio's for those that want more details. Alan LaVern "Al" Bean< is one from NASA as well as this obit.

alchetron has another bio. And this is a transcript of his landing on the Moon.

Greenwich Workshop has a nice display of his paintings.

Art Country Canada represent his entire collection.

For those interested in the family Name, here is information about the Bean family crest. In an earlier issue of Scotia News we showcased the MacBean tartan.

"Bean took a little piece of MacBean tartan to the Moon."

And here is the other interested historical bit about Al Bean I love: he brought a piece of the family tartan to the Moon, but brought it back. That's some trip.

Anthony Bourdain Travels Scotland

By way of celebrating this brilliant writer and speaker, I wanted to showcase the episodes where he explored Scotland.

Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown Season 5 Episode 3 Scotland, especially Glasgow.

Anthony Bourdain- No Reservations - Season 4, Episode 6 - London-Edinburgh. The Scotland segment starts around the 30 minute mark, although the entire episode is great.
