Title: Does mathematics describe the physical universe?

Abstract: The obvious answer to the above question is “Absolutely!!!” After all, most science classes have mathematics prerequisites because mathematics is the language of science. However, the question is not so simple. We will spend some time examining the relationship between mathematics and science. How does mathematics describe/predict/explain/control physical phenomena? We will look at some physical phenomena where mathematics is not so helpful. The talk will be more fun and interesting than boring and technical.
