Deed of Gift Agreement

So that your interview may be made public, we ask that you assign the copyright* to Professor Napoli. The following is the legal language to perform this task.

hereby give, convey, and assign to Prof. Philip F. Napoli, who is currently in possession of my oral memoir consisting of ______________________________, to have and hold the same absolutely and forever.

I understand that Prof. Napoli will use my oral memoir for such historical and scholarly purposes as he sees fit and that by this conveyance I relinquish:

1. All legal title and literary property rights which I have or may be deemed to have in
this taped and transcribed interview.

2. All my rights, title and interest in copyright which I have or may be deemed to have in said work and more particularly the exclusive rights of reproduction, distribution, preparation of derivative works, public performances and display.

I herein warrant that I have not assigned or in any manner encumbered or impaired any of the aforementioned rights in my oral memoir. The only conditions which I placed on this unrestricted gift are:

1. The right to copy, use, and publish my oral memoir in part or in full until my death or ___________________________ 20________________.

Copyright is the legal permission provided by the laws of the United States to the authors of Aoriginal works of authorship@, including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic and other intellectual works. Copyright controls the reproduction and distribution of original works of authorship. Copyright protects original works of authors= intellectual property with the restricted right to do and authorize the following:

1) Duplicate the copyrighted work in copies or phono records;
2) Prepare copied works based on the subject work;
