WATER PUPPETS

Water pupets are unique in that the puppeteers stand in the water, behing a curtain. The puppets are on sticks that are held out in front of the puppeteer, and appear to "walk on the water". Movements are controlled by strings running from the puppet back to the puppeteer.

Some puppets, like the dragon boat shown above, have six rowers and a coxswain behind hem who lean forward and backward as they row the dragon boat.

The figure to the left is a musician who "plays" music when the strings are pulled.

The puppet shows are accomanpied by musicians.
