II. Papers and Exams

There are no late papers. Papers which come in after the due date will be penalized. Papers must be turned in as HARD copies – no electronic submissions are acceptable.

You may turn the paper in earlier than the due date for STRUCTURAL criticism and then turn in a rewritten paper by the due date.

Films discussed in the papers should be those OTHER than the ones shown in class

2 Papers and a final

Papers

The first paper (DUE SEPT. 24th) should look at the questions raised about the nature of biography and the requirements needed to be a biopic. Your paper should contain a discussion of what constitutes a biogrpahies are and how the film handles that material.

The second paper (DUE NOV. 19th) involves reading a biography and watching a film about the same person. You need to write about the different approached taken to the subject by both the author and film maker. The paper should contain a discussion of the role of truth and accuracy in a biography and what problems are presented in the particular book and film you selected,

In both instances you should try to include discussions about what the biographer and film makers were trying to say about the people involved.

Be sure to include FILMIC material (not just dialog or plot) in your discussions.

The final exam is scheduled for WED Dec, 17th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

THE FINAL STARTS AT 6:00 WITH THE SHOWING OF A FILM CLIP. IF YOU COME LATE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE IT AND ANSWER THE WIESTINOS ABOUT IT
