SYLLABUS
Requirements:
The course involves reading a number of books and articles, listed below. Students should try to read at least the story and the play before the first day of class. The classes themselves will involve discussion of the text and subtext of the play as well as the information gathered about Barrie from his biography. There will be five versions of the film shown, and students are required to view Finding Neverland outside the classroom as well as The Lost Boys. The course involves decisions made on the part of film makers on how to film the story. Students are required to read all the works by Barrie listed below and ONE biography of Barrie (MacKail's is generally considered to be the definitive one).
The grades for the course are based on a final exam or paper.
