PAPERS
There are two papers for this class. The first one is due on the date of the 5th class meeting, the second on the date of the 10th class meeting.
For the first paper, you need to select a film that is CLEARLY a disaster film and look at the way in which the film handles the "classes of characters" we associate with disaster films (forces of order, scientists, religious practitioners, media, civilians etc,) and the placing of blame (if any). What position does the film take about the people, places, events, causes (blame) for the disaster. How do these get represented in terms of visual image, sounds and other aspects of the film?
For the second paper, select a film which you feel is marginal to the disaster film genre. Discuss what you think constitutes a disaster film and why the film you have chosen might or might not be classified as a disaster film.
PAPER ARE TO BE TURNED IN ON TIME!!!!!
